Community involvement

Getinge’s clearest contribution to social development is the company’s core business. People all over the world now live a more tolerable life thanks to Getinge’s operations and major investments in the development of new products. Patients at surgical clinics and in intensive care units come into contact with Getinge’s products every day. Everyday life for elderly and handicapped people is made easier and more dignified with the Group’s lift aids and hygiene systems.

Local involvement

Getinge strives to make positive contributions to the countries in which it conducts business activities. Employees are encouraged to actively involve themselves in social issues, although the company does not give money to political parties or make political donations. Local involvement and local decision-making are some of the prime concerns in all of the activities undertaken by Getinge. This also applies to the Group’s involvement in society. Accordingly, most initiatives and efforts are made at a local level, by Getinge’s local companies and individual employees. Many local activities were undertaken by Getinge employees throughout the world in 2008. An example is a group of employees at a factory in China who decided to finance the schooling of several children whose parents could not afford to pay the school fees. Instead of donating a lump sum, the employees chose to make this a long-term commitment and supported the children through their entire compulsory schooling.
